How to Make a Metal Texture in Paint.NET

Textures are fairly easy to make using a combination of clouds, and other effects. Metal textures are some of the easiest to create. The trick is to use clouds with multiple layers, and then play with the blending modes.

1. Render-clouds
2. Create New layer "Layer 2"
3. Render clouds in Layer 2
4. Add some monochromic noise to Layer 2
5. Apply Motion blur of 90 degrees to the Layer 2
6. Change blending mode for Layer 2 to "Darken"

You can also try to play with other effects, such as "Dents" and "Frosted Glass". Have fun!
