The history of written language started as soon as Sumer was established. Sumerians were the genius of their time. They invented multiple things which are still being used today. The writing was one of their most important inventions. As Sumer civilization was the part of ancient Mesopotamia, they had only a few resources to take benefit from. Two famous rivers, Euphrates and Tigris, played a major role while being the top sources of water and clay. Also, the reed grew on the marshy lands of Southern Iraq adjacent to these two rivers. So, Sumerian people took pieces of reeds and made tablets out of river clay. These two resources combined to form the first-ever writing system of humankind.
Schools and study centers can use this as an educational video for kids to teach about the history of Writing and Cuneiform.
