The Matterhorn from Riffelalp

When you view my film of the Matterhorn, the first thing you are going to want to know is,
“Just how high is that incredible piece of rock?” The answer is 4,478 metres, or 14,700 feet.
It stands so far above the surrounding range of the Pennine Alps that it seems impossible to imagine Edward Whymper’s party could conquer the summit in 1865, but they did.
The film shows the 15 minute train journey from Zermatt to Riffelalp, with stunning views of the Matterhorn towering in the background. From the station it’s a ten minute walk to Riffelalp resort, from where the views are even better. (Don’t miss the extreme close-ups of the rock face near the end of the video.)
