Anonymous reports about the disposal of toxic waste begin coming in from a small town in Kentucky. Special Agent Jack Taggart is not the first person the government has sent to this backwater to figure out what’s going on there. His friend had been there before him; according to the local police, he died while transporting a truckload of alcohol. Soon it turns out that several other FBI agents have died under mysterious circumstances in the same area. A gang led by an unscrupulous magnate is running amok in these parts, destroying the region’s rich natural environment. They have tons of toxic chemical substances stored there, capable of destroying all life in the area. There’s no one to stand up to the gangsters: the local residents are intimidated, the officials are bribed, and the environmental protection inspector has been eliminated. Now Jack Taggart will have to restore justice single‑handedly...
