The construction of the main structure of the east artificial island, a key part of the sea-crossing Shenzhen-Zhongshan link was completed, connecting Shenzhen and Zhongshan in south China's Guangdong Province. It is a mega sea-crossing complex that comprises bridges, two artificial islands, tunnels and underwater channels. With a total length of 24 kilometers, it is expected to open to traffic next year. The east artificial island, located near Shenzhen Baoan International Airport and Fuyong Port, will serve as a juncture where the 6,845-meter-long underwater tunnel connects with the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway.
