We start this walk on a sunny Saturday morning in Freiburg im Breisgau, a picturesque city in southwestern Germany and the gateway to the Black Forest. Its old town is filled with historic buildings, lively squares and narrow streets that give Freiburg a warm and distinctive character.

Our first stop is the popular Münsterplatz market, where the square surrounding Freiburg Minster is lined with stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, bread, cheese, sausages and other regional products. The mix of local food, busy market stands and the cathedral in the background makes this one of the most atmospheric places in the city.

From the market, the walk continues through Freiburg’s historic center. Along the way, we pass traditional cafés, colorful facades, small shops, cobblestone streets and the famous Bächle that run through parts of the old town. The relaxed pace of the city and its beautifully preserved architecture make Freiburg especially enjoyable to explore on foot.
