In this video, I drove to Idaho to Dr. Ferman Lake Boat Launch to meet one of the first people to inspire my mini wooden electric boat build. On the way back, and a day after meeting Paul Elkins, I met with Brian Davis, otherwise known as American Boathead on Youtube. Brian is simply one of the kindest and most genuine people I know, and it's a true shame I don't live close to this man, to share our love for making craft like this. My boat had some steering issues, as the pin came out from the steering wheel during the last several miles on the road. But it was more important at this point, with my tight schedule to get back home to begin teaching again, to simply go out onto the lake and just chat about all things youtube and boating. Much of it was personal back and forth banter, but as you see I put much of our conversation here as well. We talked about how our mini wooden boats were not about being the perfect craftsmanship, but about creating something that anyone with a bit of space and a few bucks could create on their own time. We spoke about the marine plywood, about techniques of making other small boats, about small boat drive systems and electrical motors I want to play with. We also talked about future plans, hopes, and dreams. But more than this, it simply felt like I was reacquainted with an old school buddy who I've always stayed in touch with.

While we were there, we were surrounded by onlookers on and off, we even gave a special showing to someone in a wheelchair. Everyone we interacted with loved our mini electric boats. I was really quite sad to leave.
