High school student Alex Browning is preparing to fly from New York to Paris with his classmates, but just before takeoff he has a terrifying premonition of disaster and, in panic, demands to leave the plane. Several people are removed from the flight and miraculously avoid death, but relief quickly gives way to anxiety: the survivors begin to understand that death has not abandoned its plan, but has merely changed the order and manner in which it will claim each of them. Alex tries to uncover the invisible pattern and warn the others, but fear, distrust, and the sense of inevitability make every accidental detail dangerous. The first film in the franchise turns teen horror into a tense supernatural game with fate, where the main opponent is not a monster, but the merciless logic of death itself.
