The birthday of Lord Dattareya falls on Margasirsa Purnima.

‘Marga’ means path and ‘sirsa’ refers to the head. By head, we refer to the One seated in the highest position in creation, who is none other than God. So, Margasirsa refers to the path to reach God.

On the occasion of Datta Jayanti in Dec, 2021, Shri Datta Swami has given an incredible extempore discourse, spontaneously radiating flashes of divine knowledge. He has revealed the innermost symbolism of the esoteric Datta #Sampradaya, highlighting the difference between #Datta, the energetic incarnation of God, and #Dattatreya, the human incarnation.

Shri Datta Swami stresses the relevance of the human #incarnation to human beings. Energetic incarnations are present in the upper worlds and are relevant to energetic beings residing there. But many of us prefer to worship energetic incarnations.

Why is this the case?

Well, Swami reveals that the answer lies in the ego and jealousy that are inherently a part of every human soul.

Among the six undesirable qualities in Hinduism known as kama, krodha, lobha, mada and matsarya, the last two are ego and jealousy and are the most difficult to conquer. Even divine sages are said to suffer from ego and jealousy!

#LordDatta is also famous for His miracles and Shri Swami sheds light on both the positive and negative angles of performing miracles. A miracle is absolutely necessary to establish the existence of the unimaginable God, but at the same time, miracles also pose the risk of increasing the selfishness of souls, who might look to utilize the Lord’s miraculous for their materialistic benefit.

In this highly engaging video, Shri Swami shares extremely interesting stories—such as those of Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Lord Narayana—and in the process, drives home deep philosophical conclusions that would otherwise, escape our attention.
