This footage is of our female Venustus, she has been knocking around in this tank for the past few years and has been a great fish to keep.

We've never actually witnessed the hunting method behaviour as this is rarely seen in the aquarium and these fish are well fed.

NIMBOCHROMIS Venustus (Giraffe Hap) 

Endemic to Lake Malawi, Africa 

Size approx 8 - 10 inches

Diet carnivore (natural predator) 

Temperature: 75-82°F (24-28°C)

pH: 7.6-8.8

Minimum tank size 75gal (around 300+litres)

If keeping more than one Venustus its best to keep a group of 1 male to 5 females, multiple males in a tank will not work out well as they are rather intolerant of one another. 

Tank setup, 
Use a coral based substrate to help buffer pH to above neutral. The tank should contain rock to form structures for blocking lines of sight and caves for cover.
