Getting a clean recording with a low noise floor can be a big challenge in a home studio environment. As well as this we often have a whole host of sounds within our homes and external ambient sounds to deal with and once we dial in post effects like compression the noise floor level can sound, well, unprofessional.

Enter iZotope Voice De-noise from their RX package and also available within RX Elements. This plugin really has to be seen, well, heard, or even better used to be believed and it's a must for those broadcasting and recording the voice from home. In an adaptive real time setting it constantly adjusts it's processing to remove background hiss and unwanted ambient sounds. It's very effective and very impressive.
