Описание

The Barracuda was a British carrier-borne torpedo and dive bomber developed as a replacement for the Fairey Albacore bi-planes. It was the first of its type to be operated by the Fleet Air Arm and was fabricated entirely from metal. It first flew in 1940 and was introduced into service in 1943. It was also operated by the Royal Canadian Navy, Netherlands Naval Aviation Service and the French air Force. One of the Barracuda`s most noteworthy engagements during WWII was a large scale attack upon the German battleship Tirpitz in April 1944. It is seen here carrying out deck trials with assisted take-off and crash barrier trials - not always successful!
